Please ask us about the following vaccines:

Gardasil:

-Indication: In females, in helps prevent against cervical/vulvar/anal/vaginal cancer and genital warts. In males, it helps prevent against anal cancer and genital warts.Helps prevent certain strains of HPV virus which can cause cervical cancer, genital warts, and anal cancer in males and females.

-Age: Males 9 to 26.  Females 9 to 45

-Dose schedule: 3 vaccines at 0, 2 and 6 months

Cervarix

                –Indication: Helps prevent cervical cancer from certain strains of HPV virus in females

-Age:  Females 9 to 25

-Dose schedule: 3 vaccines at 0, 1 and 6 months

Menactra

                –Indication: Helps protect against meningitis, sepsis, and death caused by 4 strains of the meningococcus bacteria.

-Age: 9 months to 55 years

-Dose schedule:

-9 months to 23 months: Two doses, three months apart

-Age 2 to 55:  single dose

Bexsero

                -Indication: Helps protect against meningitis, sepsis, and death caused by the Group B strain of meningococcus bacteria

-Age: 2 months to 17 years

-Dose schedule:  2 to 4 doses, depending on age of first dose.

Zostavax

                -Indication: Helps protect against herpes zoster (aka shingles)

-Age: Age 50 and up

-Dose schedule: Single dose

Pneumovax 23

                -Indication:Helps in prevention of pneumococcal disease caused by 23 strains of bacteria.  Is OHIP-covered.

-Age: Age 60 and up. (Age 2 and up for high risk patients)

-Dose schedule: Single dose after age 60. Second dose only for high risk patients who were previously vaccinated.
